Have been waging War on the Lodger and his collection of unwearable and unrepairable boots which have languished in the house for a year gathering mould and penicillin cultures beyond tolerance. Having issued an ultimatum that they were to be binned, I have now re-contributed to the Old Boot collection by finding him this rather lovely vintage pair of riding boots (£1 from jumble sale near Lewes) by way of compensation. But in need of some repairs/additions to straps, sadly. Which just recreates the original scenario. Mmm. On a similarly leathery note but of more use – to me – from that same jumble was this nice little yellow belt (20p) with snaffle-style details.
