Brunswick brown

marniskirtI am not, usually, a fan of brown, but this rather fine Marni skirt may be an exception. It’s a full, below-the-knee number with a nice wraparound/tie detail at the waist, in need of some mending (and the moving-over of a button to enlarge the waistband…) but at just £3 from a clothes stall at the annual Brunswick Square festival (local residents selling off their unwanted items, to a backdrop of local bands and a decent selection of food stalls – you can tell where my priorities are) it was worth a punt. Repairs have taken place, I have gently hand-washed it, and I’m rather pleased with the way it hangs, though I have already discovered that this taffeta-type material really has to be one of the least practical of fabrics. It is not a good idea to wear it to a barbecue, for a start, or indeed, to anywhere where food, dripping liquids, oils, bicycle chains or dirt of any description may be involved.
