Happy Leigh

small0748To Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, for the annual Folk Festival; and one of the advantages of jumping on the train out of Fenchurch Street on a Saturday is the chance for a bit of seaside charity-shopping. We started the morning in Westcliff-on-Sea, where we found nothing, but walked back along the beach to Leigh, where the finds were all D’s: a dark green and white Russian military-surplus T-shirt (brand new), an Indian-patterned Reiss shirt (£2 from the Salvation Army shop) plus the Mitchum biog (£1). Shortly after these purchases, we randomly bumped into a woman I’d been at university with and hadn’t seen for 20-odd years, and then we all proceeded to get Rather Drunk, which – all in all – meant that we actually saw very little music. Oh well.
