Soft suede

Have had to concede that my grey-green leather knee-high boots (purchased from Oxfam almost exactly two years ago) are on the way to the recycling bin, no longer worth spending repair-money on (they’ve been reheeled a few times, a process which now costs as much as I paid for them in the first place). What I liked about these was their sheer simplicity and plainness of design – no unnecessary decoration, straps, buckles or other adornments – and comfortable flatness. And handily, I’ve found a replacement pair: brown suede Russell & Bromleys, age/vintage unknown, £4 (plus reheeling, though otherwise they are in excellent condition) from the Brighton Marina car boot sale. I hope I’ll get a couple of years’ wear out of these, now.
