The Casiotone collection

IMG_0163With the advent of S The Lodger I have a new partner-in-crime for Usual Shopping, someone upon whom I can foist finds, and in whose own treasure and bargains I can take a vicarious pleasure. Today’s joint expedition to the Emmaus Goodwill co-op and the Martlets Hospice furniture warehouse in Hove, under the guise of looking for chairs/a sofa for the New Shed, yielded a paisley silk scarf for D (to be put aside for Christmas: don’t tell him, anyone), seen here draped across the latest addition to S’s ever-growing collection of vintage synths and keyboards. Apparently this example of ’80s Casio technology (a ToneBank CT-470, for keyboard nerds) usually sells for £40-plus on eBay, so was a bit of a bargain at £10 from the Martlets shop. Space-rock, echo-chamber and quivering reverb sounds have been emanating from S’s bedroom all evening as I write.
