Affordable outfits

P1000954P1000955P1000967P1000970No, I wouldn’t really wear stripes and spots at the same time, but some striking shirt/skirt combinations courtesy of a jumble sale in Rodmell… The striped T-shirt – which has interesting metallic hole-details and a sharp boat-neck shape – has been much-worn already, and the pleated black and red skirt has had a few outings as well (works well over high, sturdy boots). The full red/black combo was a bit much, and the blouse a bit too small, so I gave it to a work colleague. I’m not sure she really appreciated the concept of the Usual Shop, but anyway, it was a gesture of peace and conciliation (long story, and example of the reasons why I work freelance/on short-term contracts: life’s too short for office politics). The tweedy Zara skirt with leather waistband (£1 from car boot sale at Brighton Marina) was unflatteringly tight, too, but the White Stuff denim (£7 from charity shop in Essex Road, London N1) has proved to be worth every penny: just the pencil-ish shape and length I was looking for.
