The guitar that got away… but I did get a great coat

june 012Very nearly had a great story for you about how I stopped in a tiny Kent village to buy a sandwich and got tempted by a near-£2500 guitar (picture below), but sadly, I’m not quite that rock’n’roll. Should you be interested, that Gretsch White Falcon (Japan-built, 2005) is for sale here

Anyway, the little hamlet of Headcorn not only hosted a flea market in its church, it had a couple of very good charity shops – and I did come away with a very fine Aquascutum coat (£20, and compared to the Gretsch, a cheap impulse purchase). Immaculate herringbone tweed, double-breasted, and, as I found out at a little festival in a field later that evening (where D played his red Gretsch, of the Country Classic variety), very warm indeed. Would still love a Gretsch of my own, though, even if I can’t exactly see myself channelling Poison Ivy (she did have a White Falcon at one point) these days…
