Pale pastels are not usually my thing, but as an arm-covering complement to black, and in appropriately vintage-y shades, just maybe… Silk-fronted dusty pink cardigan (H&M) and stone-coloured shrug-thing (Coast) with slightly ruched chiffon sleeves, £1 each from the car boot sale at Brighton Marina. I have been feeling the urge to buy a number of uncharacteristically pale or pink-ish things lately – perhaps the onset of summertime, or a softening of outlook? Who knows. Anyway, resisted the temptation to buy a bright pink LK Bennett shift dress in a charity shop today; that may have been going too far, and anyway, it didn’t fit me in a way that did any favours.
On safer and more familiar ground, below: black Zara long-sleeve T-shirt (also £1, Brighton Marina market) and a Dorothy Perkins denim skirt, nice and stretchy and cycling-friendly, a boot sale find from my mother.
