Oh, a very happy day’s bargain-hunting last Saturday: jumble sales in Newick, Lindfield and Rushlake Green (beyond Heathfield), and some fine finds from each. Well worth the petrol, and once you factor in a most pleasant country walk around the latter village (saw a whole herd of wild deer, plus signs of spring), lunch from the lovely little bakery in Lindfield, and in D’s case, a drink or two in a village pub whilst I was rummaging, and it all added up to a most pleasant day out. First batch of strange oddments: ‘vintage’ bright orange cagoule (for cycling); one of two black net petticoats (for the dressing-up/costumes box); useful grey cashmere M&S cardi. High-waisted vintage men’s dinner-suit trousers (Tim? To replace your pair with the moth-holes?) and an immaculate lightweight pinstripe De Havilland suit with dark red lining (your size, I believe, Deacon). Plus below, two sweet little hand-knitted jumpers, and (not pictured) a whole heap of as-new running shorts and vests from someone who must either have suddenly changed size or given up the effort.
