Not-so-little black dresses

Picture 101Picture 100

A tale of two black dresses. First up, one from my existing collection: a very old, fragile and rarely-worn drop-waisted shift. Found the lace Peter Pan collar in my needlework/projects box (appropriated some time back from my grandmother’s rag-bag of odds and ends) and it now looks a little more exciting. Not sure if I quite dare wear it on-stage – hefting a double bass around in easily-ripped vintage dresses isn’t a good, or indeed, dignified idea – but maybe. Secondly, a ’60s lace-topped number, £4 in the end-of-year sale at the Cancer Research charity shop in Shoreham. Not a flattering fit (as yet) but if the New Year’s Resolutions pay off… Not exactly little black dresses, either of ’em, but the latter is still on the small side.
