Cape, cricket jumper and tweed

More finds from the Rodmell jumble sale – and yes, it’s another spectacular cape. This one’s Austrian, with epic storm-flap shoulders, and sadly has a few moth-holes, but nothing you’d notice once on. Worth it for £1, though. The cricket jumper (20p, lovely soft wool) has also been munched in a couple of places – easily darnable – but I think the tweed knee-length kick-pleat skirt (indeterminate vintage, could pass for ’60s) is unnibbled. A high-temperature stint with the steamer is in order. Oh, and a bit of glitz and glitter: a sparkly Zara cardigan, also 20p, but rather horrifyingly ageing once on – will pass this one on.

Not pictured from the day’s haul: several nondescript but useful black vests and long-sleeved T-shirts (including a new Zara one); ankle-length black silk Monsoon skirt with ‘mullet’ handkerchief hem; short black lace Top Shop skirt; a blue and white striped shower curtain (for my mother, who will cut it up to make laundry bags). Just can’t seem to get any decent shots of the black things, will try and fathom out the flash on my new camera. And taking my photos in the daylight might help.
