Rummaging in Riga

Some holiday souvenirs. I’d heartily recommend Riga as a city-break destination, by the way, and quite apart from all its many cultural delights, atmospheric and evocative historical quarters, splendid Art Nouveau districts and interesting folk heritage, it has some damn fine charity shops.

American wool hunting jacket, a very splendid vintage plaid, from the Humana shop on (I think) Caka iela, just after the junction with Dzirnvulu iela; 2 lats (about £2.20). Just opposite on Marijas iela was Otra Elpa (“Second Breath”), said to be Riga’s first charity shop, where I found this rust-coloured silk shirt (3 lats). Not pictured (has disappeared into the laundry mountain somewhere): khaki green Helly Hansen ski anorak, 2 lats from another Humana super-store on Brivibas iela.
