The girly and the grungy

D was very taken with me in this flowery halter-neck dress (Jane Norman: who she?) with its puffball skirts and low neckline, can’t possibly think why… Quite ridiculously girly, might be fun in a warmer climate; not my usual thing at all, but I may wear it once or twice just to amuse him. Enough. Apologies for terrible photo with pretentiously posed Danelectro (a find in a Texan junk-shop, btw; one of the earliest 1990s reissues of the classic ’60s surf/garage favourites, the poor boys’ Telecaster), but it was the guitar or a heap of spare-room detritus coming into shot, and I really couldn’t be bothered to move anything.

On a more practical note, the less feminine find to the right is something I’ve been looking out for: a proper beat-up old Barbour, with all the pockets, neck-strap and everything. Knew that, sooner or later, I would find one at a jumble sale, and my resistance to paying silly money has been justified. Have re-waxed it (Saturday evening: my life’s that rock’n’roll, despite ownership of two Danelectros) and it’s come up nicely. Both finds in the £3.20 Selmeston haul (see below). And no, I’m not considering wearing both of these items at the same time; that would be too reminiscent of the grunge days.
