I keep noticing loose, billowing silk shirts, worn by girls considerably younger than myself and in combination with denim hotpants or tight leggings. I may pass on the skirtless bottom half, but thought I’d give this orangey effort a go. It’s Next, presumably from the last time around when these were fashionable; £1 from the Dogs’ Trust charity shop in Shoreham and similar to a shirt I saw in the window of American Apparel. As I cannot bring myself to even go into American Apparel, this pleases me in a mildly ironic way. So far, I have worn this shirt with skinny black jeans and – with the black sash (below) to give some semblance of a waist – over a denim skirt. I am still not sure. Behind on the door, by the way, are some dresses of older vintage and more glamorous provenance; I am having another sort-out and a cull of the ill-fitting and unflattering (OK, the now-too-small) items in my wardrobe.
