The latest round of cast-offs from my grandmother. Three dark red 1970s suitcases, specially bought for my grandparents’ grand trip to Australia and used ever since for storing blankets and bedlinen; one ticking-covered feather pillow; one pale blue Witney blanket (the real deal, complete with proper stitching). Plus, from my mother, two black berets (because I keep losing them) and a pair of navy blue lace-up espadrilles. Not pictured: 15 navy, black or green short-sleeved blouses (most too polyester for my liking, and too big, but a couple are OK); several bottles of half-used perfumes; a bag of marigold seeds; and a desk-top computer, from my brother via my dad and a cast-off from some Hampshire council office, I believe. I need to redress the balance on the stuff-accumulation front again though I have been participating in some fairly major plant-swaps and giveaways lately, at least.
