So I sold the glass table and chairs. We have carted this dining set from house to house for nearly 15 years but it’s time for a change. I originally bought it all for £65 from a Belgian guy at the old Brighton station car boot sale, who sold ’60s and ’70s vintage furniture he’d picked up cheaply at auction in France and the Low Countries. Many years of constant usage later, and despite the demise of the white vinyl upholstery of the chairs, I have sold it at a profit. I probably even undersold it – the dealer didn’t haggle over my asking price – but I needed a man with a van to take it away and this saved me a lot of hassle. A win-win situation all round. And what’s to replace it? There’s a wooden table awaiting assembly in my garden shed… story and picture to follow.
