White vintage cotton

I am inexplicably drawn to old cottons and things white and lacy. Two of these items – loose smock and lace-trimmed nightie, the latter very old, 20p each from jumble sale in Laughton – have gone to the laundry room at Preston Manor for display/visitor interaction purposes, to be put through the mangle and hung up to dry by a succession of school groups and other interested parties. The off-the-shoulder lace-edged Zara shirt, of  rather more recent vintage (£1 from car boot sale in Shoreham), is in the limbo between things I might try wearing and the car boot sale pile.
