Summer shirts

Each year I amass a series of lightweight cotton shirts with a view to wearing them over vest tops, to do a sort of grown-up smart-casual thing, and every summer, I put these shirts on, feel far too preppy, and take them straight off again. This year, I shall have a go with a new batch. Wide-cut, cropped black shirt with huge buttons, bracelet sleeves and ’50s-ish shawl-style collar (New Look, many years ago, to be taken in a little); jade-green silk tunic;  mannish white cotton with bib front, all from the Ringmer jumble sale. I can but try again.
