Hanging gently

A practical purchase: padded hangers, home-made, from last week’s jumble sale. They’re not the prettiest I’ve bought, but good enough for preserving the shoulders and necklines of my more fragile vintage finds. A couple have funny little pouches of lavender (long scentless) swinging rather oddly from the hook. Once upon a time, people (women) made these things as a matter of course when furnishing their homes and filling their wardrobes; I’m not sure the craft revival has yet stretched to making padded hangers trendy, though I may be wrong, and there may well be a shop or Etsy store selling perfectly-upholstered examples in carefully-sourced vintage fabrics for £15 or more. I’m happy with these, which cost me 10p each.
