Seventies slacks

Posing nonchalently by the bass is D, looking dapper in a pair of trousers which used to belong to L’s father. Seventies YSL, light brown wool, sharp crease down the front and a high waist that works well with braces (under the waistcoat, in this photo). L says her dad bought them from a charity shop in the ’80s, as far as she can remember. D – the only man known to L’s family to still be skinny enough to fit into them – is also wearing white shirt (Gresham Blake), cravat (jumble sale), the velvet waistcoat (gift from my mother, found at a car boot sale) and tan/brown suede/leather shoes (Zara, his Christmas present from me last year).
