Policeman’s cape

Ringmer jumble sale #9: the star find. I have already shared my misgivings about capes but this one is quite special. It’s a very dark navy blue police-issue cape, with a ‘1963’ stamp inside, official buttons and chain fastening at the neck. From the Dixon of Dock Green days when policemen wore proper high helmets with chinstraps: none of that fluoro vest and Kevlar body-armour business.
