Two finds at the Brighton Marina car boot sale, both blue: short ’60s jacket with silver buttons (£3) and an oddly square-shaped short-sleeve shirt with epaulettes and buttoned pockets (£1), unworn but of indeterminate vintage. The jacket was half of a dress-and-jacket set – sadly, the girl selling it had lost the dress, her granny’s – and the shirt, which’ll work over a striped T-shirt, is “Sicilian dead stock”, according to the trader, which conjures up all sorts of unsavoury images.
