Making do and mending

Things to do on a wet Sunday afternoon: making do and mending. This Sunday, I darned ten hand-knitted woollen socks (the handiwork of my grandmother); repaired holes in three jumpers and a ’60s shift dress (I blame the moths); sewed on one button; and did my best to contain the feathers on this rather fragile paisley eiderdown. Oh, and I tackled the large pile of hand-washing, too.
