Sunday trading

usual shop june 2009 008You rarely see Monsoon dresses secondhand; my theory is that they’re so classic they get kept for years, and that unlike Primark frocks, they’re bought by mature-ish women who aren’t into fast, disposable fashion. This dotty grey one is a rare find and a perfect fit (as I knew it would be, as I have a very similar one in black already). £4 from the boot sale at Brighton Marina; put it on as soon as I got it home, and wore it all day. It’s got subtly puffed cap sleeves and a flattering cutaway effect at the shoulders, and quite a 1940s feel to it. Other Sunday morning finds: a pair of jodphurs for the Pony Club sale (£2), a big Elvis songbook (£1) and some 1920s New Orleans jazz.
