Urban cowgirl

usual-shop-0101Forgotten style role models of the 1980s #1: Maria McKee of Californian country-rockers Lone Justice. L swears that McKee (quite apart from playing an important role in the Paisley Underground scene and writing some great songs) was responsible for a whole cohort of girls both sides of the Atlantic pairing floaty floral dresses with ass-kickin’ cowboy boots; me, I was still in school uniform at the time, of course.

Here’s a little tribute to McKee, then: long cotton tea-dress, £2.50 from car boot sale at Shoreham, and grey boots, £1 (yes, really, though they are well-worn) from another stall at the same market.
